Protect first
Move identification, legal papers, keys, medication, photographs, jewelry, cash, and small electronics to a room or vehicle outside the cleanup path.
Create four zones
Use keep, donate or sell, dumpster, and separate-handling zones. Mark them clearly. The separate-handling zone is for chemicals, fuels, wet paint, batteries, pressurized containers, electronics, and anything the provider has not accepted.
Inventory bulky items
Count mattresses, appliances, sofas, cabinets, exercise equipment, and other pieces that consume space. Ask about item-specific restrictions before loading.
Keep the path usable
Do not build piles in stairs, doorways, or the driveway approach. A clear path protects people and lets the delivery driver evaluate the placement area.
